I chose this topic because Jackie Robinson is a legendary sports figure and helped unify America. I started my research on VRC database that Hauppauge School provides for its students. In social studies class we took several days to do the project we started our outline and annotated bibliography during school in the first couple months. We would often go to our school library where I learned how to navigate the VRC database. In English class we started the project by learning how to use noodle tools after we learned how to use the noodle tools website we started our annotated bibliography in the library. At home I watched several documentary videos about Jackie Robinson about his life and the difficulties he faced because the color of his skin. The project came together for me gradually and well-spaced out because me and my partner got our sources then after we gathered our sources we developed a thesis. When we did all our research we developed our notecards, we used noodle tools for our annotated bibliography. We used our sources and our note cards to help us put together our annotated bibliography together, after our hard work all we had left to do was to create our website which went fairly easily because we had all our information ready to go. I chose to do a website because I like using technology. I think this project teaches us all different tools that we will use in the future and in college and it teaches us to not leave everything for the last minute. Ryan Nawrocki The annual theme for this years National History Day project was Leadership and Legacy. We chose Jackie Robinson because of his extraordinary history with baseball and his life in general. He was the first African American to play in Major League Baseball and we thought we could do a project about all the obstacles he had gone through to accomplish all that he did. This project began in Social Studies class and English class with organizing the outline. We conducted our research using the virtual reference collection on our schools website. It holds a lot of information and good sources that we could use and it helped a lot when it came to research. Also, we used sources that ended in .org and .edu. According to our teaching staff they contain the most accurate information. We selected the project of making a website because we are familiar with computers and technology. We felt it would be a very good thing to know how to do in our future. We constructed this website using weebly.com, which is a very user friendly site. Our project relates to the annual theme Leadership and Legacy because Jackie Robinson has had a major role in baseball and has encouraged many other African Americans to achieve their dream of playing the MLB.
